In Loving Memory of E.G.

E.G. Marshall was an amazing actor, and on top of that, a wonderful man. He was in show business for approximately sixty years, and had accomplished a multitude of amazing projects. Most recently he was a regular cast member for a while on "Chicago Hope" (although not when I guested) and in such films as "Nixon" and "Absolute Power". In the sixties, he won two Emmy Awards for his work on the acclaimed television series "The Defenders". The list goes on and on...

E.G. Marshall had a profound influence on my life at nine years old. We worked together twice that year-1986. First, I played his daughter in an episode of "Tales From The Darkside", and then a few months later, I played his grand-daughter in a movie of the week called "At Mother's Request". He sent me a postcard that year. It read:

"In July, you were my daughter, in October you are my Grand-daughter.
Are you getting younger, or am I getting older?"

I still have that postcard hidden away with all of my special keepsakes.

Perhaps you find it odd that a girl of nine and a man many times her age became friends...That's how easy E.G. was to get along with! He told me I reminded him of his daughter (See the photo below). E.G. was also one of the first people in the business who told me that I would amount to something. He said I was going to be a superstar-I hope I don't disappoint him! Maybe he is sending a little of his own luck down on me to help me in my career.

E.G. died of lung cancer on August 24th of this year. I hadn't seen him in twelve years.

The nine year old in me misses a very dear friend...
